Picanto News: Kia Launch New Limited Edition Picanto Zipp!
As the warm summer months draw nearer, Kia have launched a limited edition Picanto with a totally unique feature to this segment.
The new edition is called a Zipp and features a 'panoramic full-length electric folding canvas sunroof'. Phew that was a mouth full!
Available as a 1.0 Zipp or a 1.1 Zipp+ with prices starting at a compelling on-the-road price of just £6,995.
The 1.0 model is based on the existing Picanto GS specification level, with the addition of the panoramic sunroof and a metallic dash trim. The 1.1 model, both manual and automatic, is based on the existing LX specification level complete with the same sunroof and dash trim as the 1.0.
The Zipp! models are offered with the existing consumer offer of one year’s free insurance, available until 30th June 2006.
The Picanto Zipp! addresses a unique opportunity for Kia in this increasingly competitive sector. As no other competitor offers such a large convertible-feel sunroof, and potentially guarantees the brand an untapped niche to exploit.
The only segment rival to the model is the Fiat Panda Skydome derivative from £7,540 OTR, which merely makes use of two separate glass roof panels – one active for the front passengers and one static for the rear. The Picanto Zipp! allows customers to open the entire roof for a maximum ‘open-sky’ feel.

The sunroof on the Zipp! models is a deluxe electric folding canvas roof, built by Webasto – the manufacturers who designed and supplied the cabriolet roof on the latest Mini convertibles.
The roof can be opened to any position to offer lots of light, air and unlimited fun. Unlike lots of other aftermarket sunroofs, Webasto customise the units to discreetly match the interior headlining that surrounds it, whilst keeping the exterior neat yet eye-catching.

The Zipp & Zipp+ are available with immediate effect and dealers should start receiving their model allocations shortly.
