Kia will announce a recall on around 6500 Picanto’s over the coming weeks.

Kia engineers have discovered a fault on the fuel filler neck on Picanto’s built between November 2009 and February 2010. Kia revealed that during the harsh 2009-2010 weather conditions and where high levels of de-icing materials have been used there is a possibility that material in the fuel filter neck seal could be damaged and a fuel leak could occur.

The company is aware of a small number of instances of a leak occurring outside of the UK. Customers in the UK shouldn’t be alarmed and will be contacted by local dealerships to carry out the inspection free of charge in due course.
