1st official pictures of new Picanto

Kia released the first official images of its all new Kia Picanto supermini.

Taking design queues from the Venga, the new Picanto will be longer both externally and in wheelbase. Traditionally a five-door, the new Picanto will also be available in a more sportier three-door body style in Europoean markets only.

A new generation of petrol engines with class leading emissions, mainly 1.0 and 1.2 will power the new Picanto and although there’s no initial plans for a diesel version, there will be an LPG bi-fuel and flex fuel variations depending on market.

The all new Picanto will be unveiled to its dealer network in February, prior to the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2011. It should go on general sale in the Spring.

    What no diesel?

Doesn’t look like it but it’s still early days. I suppose one option would be to take the diesel from the i20, but perhaps Kia have something else up their sleeves.

LPG is certainly an option for here in the UK and Flex Fuel is accounting for 85% of all sales in South American counties like Brazil. So maybe their looking at the bigger picture and don’t see diesel as a viable option at this moment in time.

    Kewl!

That’s obviously the sporty version. So i wonder if they’ll retain the sporty front bumper style, minus the foglamps, on the more basic models.
