We have been noticing that the amount of car manufacturers pushing car leasing, or contract hire as it’s also known, is on the increase.
Kia seem to be the exception, with nothing or very little information on their website or the dealer network, the latter probably preferring to handle enquiries as and when it’s requested.
This is a shame really, as a quick search around the web reveals some really good deals on the Kia range, where leasing a Picanto costs only £110 per month plus V.A.T.
This will be partly due to the fact that the Picanto lost less than any other car in the UK during 2005, with the strong residual value’s offsetting the balance to borrow and therefore keeping the payments low.
As a business user, the benefits of Contract Hire are there to be seen:
- 50% of the V.A.T on monthly rentals is reclaimable.
- No disposal or depreciation worries as the vehicle is handed back at the end of the contract.
- 100% V.A.T is claimable on the maintenance element of the vehicle should you choose this.
- No capital investment
Sounds good if you’re a business user, but what if your not. Apparently all the benefits of Contract Hire also apply to you, except your payments are inclusive of V.A.T and you can’t claim a portion of this back.
What you waiting for?
*Note – if any of our readers find other good deals on Picanto, please post them here.

If you could guess, what could be the internal volume of a Kia Picanto?
Thanks
That’s a good question?
Don’t quote me on this but if i had to hazzard a guess i’d say around 600 – 700 litres.
I estimate this because the Picanto’s boot is around 200 litres (dont ask me how i know that, i just do).
So usually the boot of a small car is roughly a third of the overall internal space. So give or take 50 litres here or there, i bet i’m not that far away.
Readers have a guess, email us your answer, we’ll get onto Kia and the closest answer will get a set of genuine car mats for their Picanto
thanks
the offical site says the boot is 157 lit. and when you fold the seats down you get 882lit. (some math and you get 882-157=725lit) and this is only the back part of the car right?…
I imagine it’s the space in between the tailgate and the back of the driver passenger seats.
On saying that, it’s an awful lot more volume gained just by folding down the seats.
I’ll tell you what i’ll do, i’ll fire an email off to Kia technical here in the UK and see if their boffins can help.
Hey, my guess of 600-700 litres wasn’t that far off was it
it’s at least the double of what you said. Like 1400l
Well it was only a guess on my part. And Kia didn’t come back to me, so just shows you how wrong i can be.
Thanks for the heads up
